- 11 Oct 2023
YouTube has unveiled a feature that allows the integration of multi-language audio, providing an avenue to add audio descriptive tracks to user videos, thus enhancing engagement options within the platform.
The audio description serves as a supplementary narration track detailing the on-screen action, assisting visually impaired viewers to interact with the content. Now, the “Subtitles” tab during video uploading permits the inclusion of these descriptive audio tracks, potentially widening your audience reach and enhancing accessibility. Furthermore, users are enabled to look for audio descriptions and modify their settings to play these tracks by default.
This noteworthy update ensures YouTube's full experience for a broader audience, providing diversified ways for people to engage with each video. It may also aid in expanding your discoverability by ensuring your videos appear to users who utilize such a search preference.
Simultaneously, YouTube is introducing a pronouns feature on the Channel page for creators based in the U.S.
Illustrated in this example, creators can now append their pronouns to their profile display, providing another expressive avenue and a sense of identity within the platform.
According to YouTube, the new pronouns feature, currently available in English only, will be accessible to all U.S.-based users as an opt-in feature. Moreover, creators can control whether their pronouns are publicly displayed or only visible to their subscribers.
Both features demonstrate a heightened capacity for connection and stream discoverability. By enabling diverse ways of engagement for a broader audience, YouTube and its creators can maximize opportunities within the app.
