The crowdfunding campaign for "Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver" graphic novel surges past the $1 million benchmark on Kickstarter
- 29 Aug 2024
Following an extended hiatus, the esteemed Legacy of Kain series is about to re-emerge in the form of a prelude graphic novel. The title of this eagerly anticipated installment is Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver - The Dead Shall Rise, and just this week, Crystal Dynamics declared that the initiative had gathered over $1 million through its Kickstarter campaign.
"This achievement reflects the unwavering dedication of our fans," proclaimed Crystal Dynamics across a certain social media channel. "Our appreciation knows no bounds. Let us maintain this dynamic progress!"
The revelation of this particular addition to the Legacy of Kain narrative came a few months back, and it offers enthusiasts an opportunity to delve into a chapter of the story previously left unexplored, connecting the dots between Blood Omen and Soul Reaver.
"The narrative will unveil the genesis of Raziel's life as a mortal, chart the path that brought him into the ranks of the Sarafan, and unveil the enigmatic appearance of his wings," details the Kickstarter page dedicated to Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver - The Dead Shall Rise.
"The comic provides a deeper understanding of the saga, revisiting well-known figures and scenes involving Kain, Moebius, and the kin of Raziel, while also integrating newcomers such as Elaleth. Her relationship with Raziel, Kain, and the Hylden adds novel layers to the unfolding plot."
For those considering support for this venture, there's still an opening. The Kickstarter campaign is set to conclude just over two weeks from the date this is reported.
As indicated by information on the Kickstarter webpage, the graphic novel comes in three unique hardback versions and is further accessible in a digital format:
- Standard Hardcover Version – A 140-page graphic novel adorned with principal cover artwork by Dave Rapoza.
Limited Release (500 copies) – A 140-page graphic novel graced with an alternate cover design by Matthew Therrien.
Exclusive Autographed Edition with Protective Slipcase – An extensive 150-plus page autographed graphic novel with a rare alternate cover by Aaron Lovett, including a slipcase, sketches, maps, a limited-edition illustration, a preface/postface, as well as the backer's name in the acknowledgment section of the book.
