Post-release plans for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 include complimentary updates that feature fresh gameplay options, quests, among other exciting content
- 28 Aug 2024
More than a week before Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 lands on PCs and gaming consoles on September 9th, developer Saber Interactive has unveiled its roadmap for after its debut, showcasing an array of complimentary updates including fresh missions, game modes, and antagonists.
Space Marine 2, documenting the saga of the Ultramarines Space Marine Lieutenant Titus, was initially announced back in 2021. After a postponement and an unexpected breach of information, the game is nearing its launch date, drawing considerable excitement.
Should Saber Interactive successfully launch the game, the post-release content will kick off with a no-cost "Season 1" update in September. This will introduce the Battle Barge Sparring Arena, private player versus environment matches, and support for ultra-wide displays.
The anticipation heightens with the forthcoming Season 2, set to arrive before the year's end. The developer has revealed plans for additional player versus environment tasks, a novel adversary, the introduction of the Neo-Volkite sidearm, and a brutally challenging 'Lethal’ difficulty option.
Further down the line, the complimentary Season 3 update, scheduled for 2025, is poised to substantially enhance the game by adding a fresh player-versus-environment mission, an all-new player versus-player game variant, additional player versus player arenas, prestige levels for player versus-environment play, and an expansion for the Battle Barge. Saber has also hinted at a Season 4 update, which will include features like a 'horde' mode, another new adversary, and an additional weapon for players to wield.
For those who have purchased the Space Marine 2 Season Pass, included with the game's Gold and Ultra versions, each season will come with numerous new cosmetic bundles, allowing players to customize their appearance while battling the Tyranids and Chaos forces.
Upon its release on September 9th, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will be playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
