Reviving the Classics: Capcom’s Bold New Blueprint for Beloved Franchises
- 19 May 2026
Capcom has revealed plans to breathe new life into several of its classic franchises, hinting that titles beyond Resident Evil, Street Fighter, and Monster Hunter could soon capture fans’ imaginations with fresh sequels, remakes, and ports. This shift highlights the company’s aim to expand its portfolio by transforming established names into long-term profit drivers.
Based on insights from the latest financial report, the subsequent details have been identified franchises are among those set to receive ongoing support:
- Mega Man
- Devil May Cry
- Dead Rising
- Okami
- Dragon's Dogma
- Ace Attorney
- Onimusha
These titles were featured in a diagram illustrating how Capcom plans to develop brands that will serve as new sources of growth. The document also pointed to fresh intellectual properties, encouraged by the success seen with Pragmata.
Some entries are already in the spotlight. For instance, the release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword is scheduled for later this year, and a follow-up to Okami is reportedly under development. Meanwhile, Capcom celebrated notable financial gains following the debut of Resident Evil Requiem, the most recent installment in the series numbers also affirm that Devil May Cry 5 continues to perform strongly, underscoring a clear appetite for more content within that series.
Had any of these franchises received attention on the same scale as Resident Evil or Street Fighter, they might have evolved into major revenue generators. It is unfortunate, however, that Dino Crisis was not included among the franchises earmarked for potential remakes, ports, or new sequels.
