Google's Assistant Receives Upgrade with Bard AI Integration: A More Personal and Efficient Digital Assistant
- 10/4/2023
In a transformation set to revolutionize the way we use digital assistants, Google has decided to combine the advanced AI engine—Bard—with its well-established Google Assistant. This revelation was shared at Google's annual "Made by Google 2023" event.
Bard-Enhanced Assistant offers a whole new dimension to the personal assistant experience, according to Google’s executive Sissie Hsiao. This advancement is built on Bard's recent assimilation into other Google products like Gmail and Google Drive.
Users could now assign tasks such as identifying paramount emails from the past week or task Bard-enhanced Assistant to compose social media posts, regardless of whether it's with text or an adorable puppy photo.
Google presented an illustration in which the evolved assistant identified party details from a Gmail invite, calculated travel duration from Google Maps, and subsequently dispatched a text suggesting a co-travel arrangement with a specified friend.
Bridging Creativity and Personalization
Hsiao stated, "[Assistant blended with Bard] merges Bard's creative power and reasoning skills with Assistant’s personalized assistance." Whether through voice, text, or images, the interaction is seamless, and it can complete actions on your behalf.
The mixed package of Bard's creativity, Google Assistant's features, and the customized services offered by its integration with other Google products surely appear to be a comprehensive offering. It's being rolled out for both iOS and Android users in the upcoming months.
Certain exclusive Android features might be a possibility, owing to Assistant's more profound integration with apps and settings on Android. Meanwhile, Google has stressed that the product is designed with the utmost priority for user privacy, and individual privacy settings would be a part of it.
The Made by Google 2023 event prominently featured generative AI announcements that extended beyond just the Bard-integrated Assistant. Other reveals included photo editing advancements in Google Pixel 8 Pro and enhanced voice calling capabilities in Google Pixel Buds Pro.
