Elden Ring Director Isn’t Ruling Out a Sequel
- 5/5/2024
Elden Ring is set to release its highly anticipated expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, next month, which will be the singular expansion for the game despite its enormous success. According to information from a Zhihu interview with director Hidetaka Miyazaki, translated by GamesRadar, Shadow of the Erdtree marks the only additional content slated for Elden Ring, akin to how Bloodborne received only one expansion with The Old Hunters.
Despite this, Miyazaki hinted that the structure of their development process leaves room for future projects within the Elden Ring universe, suggesting that while Shadow of the Erdtree concludes the expansion journey, the narrative and setting might continue in another form. This aligns with previous statements from Miyazaki in February, which hinted at the potential for future exploration of The Lands Between.
Set to debut on June 21 with a price tag of $39.99, Shadow of the Erdtree is being promoted as FromSoftware's most ambitious expansion to date. Taking place in the shadowy realm known as the Land of Shadow, the expansion will feature over ten new formidable bosses, comparable in challenge to the likes of Malenia and Blade of Miquella. Additionally, players can look forward to exploring new Legacy Dungeons and experimenting with eight new weapon categories, further enriching the game's vast world.
